How I Actually Do the Job
There's more to it than pointing a lance and hoping. Here's exactly what happens on every job.

Walk round it together
I look at the surface type, the drainage, any loose pointing or cracks, and what's actually growing on it. Oil stains, black spot and plain old dirt all need different treatment. This is where I work that out.

Pre-treat the problem areas
Black spot, lichen and algae get a biodegradable treatment first and time to work. Weeds between blocks are dealt with, and oil stains get a degreaser. This is the step the "splash and dash" lot skip.

Clean with the rotary surface cleaner
The flat spinning head cleans evenly across the whole surface: no zebra stripes, no missed patches, and no spray blasting all over your windows and car.

Detail the edges and rinse down
Edges, corners, steps and around drain covers get done with the lance. Then everything's rinsed clean, including any splash on your windows, walls or plants.

Finish properly
Block paving gets kiln-dried sand brushed back into the joints once dry. You get a walk-round to check it all before I pack up, and you only pay when you're happy.
Why Not Just Hire a Jet Wash?
Fair question. A hired machine will shift loose dirt, but here's what usually happens: it takes all weekend, it leaves stripes where the nozzle's overlapped, the black spot stays put because it needs treating not blasting, and the weeds are back in a month because the roots weren't killed.
My machine pushes far more water than a hire unit, the rotary head cleans evenly, and the pre-treatment does the work the water can't. Quicker, better finish, lasts longer, and you get your weekend back.

Questions About Pressure Washing
Will pressure washing damage my paving or pointing?
Not when it's done properly. I use a rotary surface cleaner that keeps the pressure even, and I adjust for the surface. Old pointing and delicate stone get treated gently, not blasted.
How long will it stay clean?
Longer than a basic jet wash, because I pre-treat the black spot and algae rather than just blasting the surface. Most driveways and patios stay looking good for one to two years, depending on shade and trees nearby.
Do you use chemicals? Are they safe for pets and plants?
I use professional, biodegradable pre-treatments where needed, mainly for black spot and algae. Everything's rinsed down thoroughly, and I take care around borders, lawns and ponds. Keep pets off until it's dry, same as you would after washing your car.
