Every Type of Driveway, Cleaned the Right Way
Different surfaces need different handling. Get it wrong and you scar the surface or rip out the joints.
Block Paving
The most common drive in Derby, and the one that suffers most from weeds. Cleaned with the rotary head, joints cleared of weeds and moss, then re-sanded with kiln-dried sand once dry. Sealing available if you want extra protection.
Tarmac
Tarmac needs a gentler touch: too much pressure strips the surface. Cleaned at reduced pressure to lift moss, algae and grime without damaging the binder. Great way to put years back on an older drive.
Concrete & Imprinted Concrete
Tough surfaces that take a proper clean well. Patterned imprinted concrete comes up brilliantly, and re-sealing it afterwards really makes the colour pop again.
Resin-Bound
Resin drives stain and go green in shade but damage easily under high pressure. Cleaned carefully at low pressure with treatment for the algae, which brings the original colour straight back.

Weeds & stains treated first
Weeds between the blocks are treated and cleared, oil spots get degreaser, and black spot gets a proper biocide treatment, all before any water touches the drive.

Rotary clean, edge to edge
The whole surface is cleaned evenly with the rotary head: no stripes, no patchy bits. Edges, steps and around drain covers are detailed with the lance afterwards.

Rinse, re-sand, walk-round
Everything's rinsed down, including your windows and walls. Once dry, block paving is re-sanded. Then you check the job before paying a penny.
Optional: Sealing
Once your drive's clean, sealing locks it in. It resists weeds, algae and oil stains and makes the next clean much easier. Not essential, but worth it on block paving and imprinted concrete. Ask and I'll include it in your quote as a separate line so you can decide.

How much does driveway cleaning cost?
Every job is quoted individually, so there's no one-size-fits-all figure. The price depends on the size of the drive, the surface, and how much weed and stain work it needs. Bigger drives, heavy weed growth or oil stains take longer and cost more. You always get a fixed price in writing before I start; there's more on the pricing page.
Will jet washing damage my block paving?
Not with the right equipment. I use a rotary surface cleaner at the correct pressure, which lifts the dirt without chewing out the jointing sand or scarring the blocks. The damage stories you hear come from people holding a turbo lance an inch off the paving.
Do you re-sand block paving afterwards?
Yes, as standard, not an extra. Once the paving's dry, I brush kiln-dried sand back into every joint. It locks the blocks together and makes it much harder for weeds to get going again.
Can you get oil stains out?
Most of them, yes. Fresh oil lifts well with a proper degreaser. Old, baked-in stains on tarmac or concrete fade a lot but can leave a faint shadow. I'll always tell you honestly what to expect before you book.
