How Much Does Driveway Cleaning Cost in Derby?
Straight answer, then the detail. Written by someone who actually cleans driveways in Derby for a living, not a national blog recycling averages.

The Short Answer
It depends on your driveway, which is why every job I do is quoted individually. As a guide, most of my driveway cleans start from around £120 for a typical single or small double drive. That's a guide only, not a quote: larger drives, heavy weed growth or stain removal will cost more, and you always get the exact figure in writing before work starts.
For context, trade directory Checkatrade puts the average jet-washing job in Derby at £246, with a typical range of £188 to £328. Whatever anyone charges, what matters is what's included: treatment, rotary cleaning, re-sanding and rinse-down, all standard on my jobs.
What Changes the Price
Four things decide what your specific driveway costs. Any company that quotes without asking about these is guessing, and guesswork usually means a padded price or a nasty surprise on the day.
1. Size (the big one)
Driveway cleaning is priced by area. A single-car drive of 30-40m² sits at the lower end; a four-car double can be double that. Measure the length and width in metres, multiply them, and you've got a rough area, which is handy when comparing quotes.
2. Surface type
Block paving takes longest because the joints need weeding and re-sanding. Tarmac and concrete are quicker but need pressure control. Resin-bound needs a gentle low-pressure approach, which takes more care and time.
3. Condition
Two years of light algae is a different job to ten years of black spot, lichen and weeds. Heavy growth needs biocide treatment and dwell time before cleaning. That extra hour costs money but is the difference between clean-for-a-month and clean-for-a-year.
4. Stains and access
Oil stains need degreaser and sometimes a second pass. No outside tap or awkward access adds time. Neither should be a surprise; a proper quote asks about them up front.
What Should Be Included (But Often Isn't)
When you compare quotes, ask whether the price includes these, because cheap quotes usually skip at least one:
Pre-treatment of weeds, algae and black spot: the step that makes the clean last.
A rotary surface clean, not just a lance: even finish, no stripes.
Re-sanding block paving: kiln-dried sand back in the joints. Skip this and weeds are back by autumn.
Rinsing down the surroundings: windows, walls, garage door. The dirty water has to go somewhere.
All four are standard in my price, which is worth remembering when a quote £30 cheaper turns out to exclude the sanding and the treatment.

Where do I sit in that? Every job is quoted on its own merits, but as a guide most of my driveway cleans start from around £120, with treatment, rotary cleaning and re-sanding included as standard. The pricing page explains exactly how your quote is worked out.
How to Avoid Paying Over the Odds
1. Get the quote in writing, fixed. "From £99" on a leaflet means nothing if the price moves on the day. A fixed quote before work starts protects you.
2. Ask what's included. Treatment? Re-sanding? Rinse-down? If it's not listed, it's probably not happening.
3. Never pay a deposit to a stranger. I don't take deposits at all; you pay when the job's done and you're happy. Anyone demanding cash up front for materials is a risk you don't need to take.
4. Be suspicious of same-day knockers. The "we're doing your neighbour's, we'll do yours for cash" line is the oldest one in the book. Good operators in Derby are booked days or weeks ahead, especially in spring.
The Bottom Line
In Derby, £120 to £250 gets a driveway cleaned properly: treated, rotary-cleaned, re-sanded and rinsed down. Below that, corners are being cut. Above £350 for a standard domestic drive, ask exactly what you're paying for. And whoever you choose, get the fixed price in writing before anyone starts.
